The OAIC is starting to receive applications for recognition under the Privacy Act from external dispute resolution (EDR) schemes. The first application, from the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, has now been published on a new webpage that will eventually hold information about all applications and about those EDR schemes that are recognised.
The Annual Report of the Information Commissioner's eHealth activities 2012–13 was tabled in Parliament on Tuesday 3 December 2013. The report includes information about the OAIC’s compliance, enforcement, advice, liaison activities under both the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Records Act 2012 and the Healthcare Identifiers Act 2010.
The Association of Information Access Commissioners is meeting today to discuss issues associated with information access rights and legislation. The meeting is being hosted by the Office of the Australian information Commissioner and will welcome a number of guest speakers, including the former UK Information Commissioner, Richard Thomas CBE.
The 40th APPA Forum is currently underway, with the meeting being hosted by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, Australia. Representatives from 11 privacy authorities and observers have gathered to discuss a variety of privacy related topics over the next two days.
