Data retention privacy obligations

The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) has published Privacy business resource 11: Telecommunications service providers’ obligations arising under the Privacy Act as a result of Part 5-1A of the TIA Act to assist telecommunications carriers and service providers to understand their key privacy obligations under the data retention scheme, which is due to commence on 13 October 2015.

Privacy business resource: Small business checklist

The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) has released a new Privacy business resource: Does my small business need to comply with the Privacy Act? The resource provides small businesses with information about the Privacy Act 1988, and includes a checklist to help small businesses determine wither they are required to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Act.
