The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) is conducting a community attitudes to privacy survey. The OAIC appreciates the support of our sponsors for this research — Commonwealth Bank (Primary Sponsor), Henry Davis York (Key Sponsor) and McAfee (Sponsor). The research will be conducted by Wallis Consulting Group over the next few weeks and will be run as a telephone survey of 1000 interviews using a combination of fixed line and mobile numbers.
The survey follows previous studies conducted by the former Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC) in 2001, 2004 and 2007. The research will focus on the way that business and government handle personal information. The results of the study will be published later this year and will allow the OAIC to gauge privacy trends and developments, changes in community attitudes and inform the OAIC’s compliance, policy and education work.
