Issues Paper on serious invasions of privacy released (23 September 2011)

Statement from Timothy Pilgrim, Australian Privacy Commissioner

"The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) welcomes the Government's issues paper on a statutory cause of action for a serious invasion of privacy. Once we have considered the detail of the issues paper, the OAIC will make a submission outlining its views. This is an important issue for the community to consider and the OAIC would encourage all interested parties to contribute to the debate."
