Privacy is important. It’s about protecting information that says who we are, what we do, what we think, what we believe.

FOI and Privacy in 2013–14: A Busy and Productive Year

The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) publishes quarterly statistics on its active workload. The quarterly statistics for April–June 2014 are now published: http://www.oaic.gov.au/about-us/corporate-information/budget-and-statistics/quarterly-statistics-april-june-2014.

FOI stats available in open data format

The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) has published freedom of information (FOI) statistics from 2012–13 in an open data format for the first time.

The statistics track the number of FOI requests to agencies and ministers, the outcome of those requests, compliance with timeframes, use of exemptions and charges and estimated FOI costs and staff time. The statistics also include data from the 2011–12 financial year and an overview of FOI request numbers, charges and costs since 1982, when the Freedom of Information Act commenced.

Revised privacy public interest determination guide released

Revised guidance on applying for privacy public interest determinations (PID) has today been released by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
