Consultation on the Guide to privacy regulatory action

The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) has released for public comment on an exposure draft of the remaining three chapters of the Guide to privacy regulatory action (the Guide). Exposure drafts of the other six chapters of the Guide were released for public comment in November 2014 and are in the process of being finalised.

The Guide supports both the Privacy regulatory action policy and the PCEHR (Information Commissioner Enforcement Powers) Guidelines 2013.  The Policy explains the range of powers the Commissioner has and the way in which those powers are used.  In addition, the PCEHR (Information Commissioner Enforcement Powers) Guidelines 2013 explain the OAIC’s approach to regulatory action in relation to the personally controlled electronic health records system.

The Guide provides stakeholders with a more detailed explanation of how the OAIC will exercise its regulatory powers.
