IC review procedure direction

The Australian Information Commissioner has released a direction regarding certain procedures to be followed during an Information Commissioner review (IC review) which takes effect from 26 February 2018.

The direction applies to agencies and ministers and sets out procedures they must follow in producing documents, providing a statement of reasons when access to requested documents has been deemed to be refused, and providing submissions for an IC review.

The direction is given by the Australian Information Commissioner under s 55(2)(e)(i) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act).
