Privacy complaint outcomes
The OAIC provides a complaints service which investigates and resolves complaints from individuals about the mishandling of personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 and other relevant laws.
This page features a selection of privacy complaints dealt with including through our early resolution process which brings parties together at an early stage to see if matters can be resolved by agreement. It is intended to demonstrate the outcomes achieved with the assistance of the OAIC and provide guidance to parties regarding potential outcomes. The details of the outcomes have been summarised and de-identified.
This data is a subset of all privacy complaint outcomes. It does not include complaints which may be identifiable (other than to the parties involved) or matters resolved through conciliation or determination.
