Application for variation

  • Part G of the Privacy (Market and Social Research) Code 2014 requires an independent reviewer to review the code at least every five years. The purpose of the independent review is to ensure that the code is meeting its objectives and remains effective and relevant. AMSRO commissioned Data Synergies Law Pty Ltd to undertake the review, which commenced in December 2019 and concluded in March 2020. Further information regarding AMSRO’s independent review is available here
  • On 23 November 2020, AMSRO submitted an application for variation of the Privacy (Market and Social Research) Code 2014 in accordance with s 26J(1)(c) of the Privacy Act. Under s 26J(4) of the Privacy Act, before deciding whether to approve a variation, the Commissioner must, amongst other things, make a draft of the variation publicly available.
