The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) was consulted on the Privacy Impact Assessment: Proposal to Retain Name and Address Information from Responses to the 2016 Census of Population and Housing in 2015. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has worked cooperatively with the OAIC to provide further information as to how it will manage the information collected during the Census to ensure it is protected in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988.
