This Wednesday 28 September is Right to Know Day which celebrates our right to access information and promotes government transparency.

The day is a reminder that public sector information is a national resource, and vital for policy, planning, research and innovation. When shared it provides an opportunity for people to reuse, assess and build on it — ultimately informing better government decision making.

We have published a number of resources for individuals to make the Freedom of Information Act 1982, and the process of making a freedom of information request, simpler.

If you ever have any questions about your FOI rights, you can contact our office on 1300 363 992 or enquiries@oaic.gov.au.
