The Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) protects the decision-maker from civil proceedings for defamation, breach of confidence or copyright infringement where the decision-maker has given access to documents in good faith under the FOI Act, in the belief that the access is required or permitted to be given. See ss 90 and 91 of the FOI Act and Part 3 of the Guidelines.
