About the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner

We are an agency within the Attorney-General’s Department portfolio with responsibility for:
- privacy functions under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Digital ID Act 2024
- freedom of information functions, in particular review of decisions made by agencies and ministers under the Freedom of Information Act 1982
- privacy and confidentiality functions in relation to the Consumer Data Right (CDR) under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (CCA).
About The Role
The Corporate Coordination Officer plays a critical cross-organisational role. This position assists the Director, Enabling Services to manage the OAIC’s physical and virtual office environments and supports the Security function. This role provides diverse opportunities to engage across the functions of Enabling Services including Governance, Risk and Compliance, People and Culture and Corporate Services.
Your communication skills expertise will be crucial in solving complex problems and managing various issues effectively. You will play a central role in developing, integrating, and maintaining policies, processes, programs, tools, reporting, and governance for our team.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following capabilities and qualities:
- Strong organisational, problem solving and time management skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a tidy and well-organised office environment
- Proactive, service-oriented team player who is willing to pitch in with both small and large tasks
- Ability to apply discretion.
Role responsibilities:
- Oversee general office operations, including maintenance of shared inboxes, and act as the first point of contact for staff (virtually and in-office) for general enquiries and support, including provision of laptops and other equipment.
- Undertake office-based tasks to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the office by managing facilities, supplies, and general workplace operations, and creating a clean, efficient and welcoming environment for staff and visitors
- Assist with the delivery of the security function (including physical and personnel security), including processing security clearances and liaising with AGSVA.
- Liaise with suppliers and service providers to ensure office facilities are maintained and functional.
- Provide general administrative support including mail handling, document preparation, invoice processing/payment, travel management and filing.
- Assist with coordinating meetings, events and functions, as needed.
- Monitor asset levels and assist with asset management
- Actively engage with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and assist with and development solutions
- Other duties as required.
Job Specific Capabilities, Skills & Experience
We are seeking applications from candidates who have:
- Experience working as part of a dynamic team in an office management environment
- Desirable: Experience in interpreting and applying AGSVA Security requirements.

You are encouraged to familiarise yourself with the APS Work Level Standards for your relevant classification.
Security requirements
You must be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
Position location
The OAIC operates a hybrid work model with a combination of remote working and office attendance. Whilst the OAIC office is located in the Sydney CBD (and preferred for these roles), we will consider candidate applications from all other locations within Australia.
The OAIC values face-to-face interaction and fostering connection between our people and with our stakeholders. The OAIC’s hybrid work model expects in office attendance when the type of work or task is better suited to being completed from an office, for example, staff inductions and onboarding, planning days, relationship building activities and project or collaborative work.
Remuneration and benefits
APS5 salary: $87,895 - $92,922 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation.
APS6 salary: $96,920 - $106,728 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation.

Eligibility
- Section 22 of the Public Service Act 1999 requires that APS employees must be Australian citizens.
- There are restrictions on employment of people who have, within the previous 12 months, accepted a redundancy benefit from an APS agency or a non-APS Commonwealth employer.
- For the duration of your employment with the OAIC you will be required to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance at the Negative Vetting Level 1 and meet required background, identification and character checks.
