The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) notes the publication of extracts from a preliminary view document prepared in the course of an investigation into a privacy complaint.
The OAIC reiterates that the views expressed in the document are preliminary, the investigation is ongoing, and no findings have been made. All relevant parties have an opportunity to respond to the preliminary view before any decision is made and the document does not reflect any final view of the OAIC or Commissioner.
All matters are progressed in accordance with the requirements of the OAIC’s statutory framework and principles of administrative law, and we seek to progress matters as expeditiously as possible. The OAIC is required to maintain the confidentiality of information obtained in its investigations and we are unable to comment further on the details of this matter.
