This register is open to ongoing APS employees looking for a temporary or permanent mobility opportunity to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
We are looking for highly motivated applicants to tell us about what skills, experience and qualifications they can bring to the OAIC. If a position comes up, we will review the CV and application information to see if there is a fit. Applicants may be considered but are not guaranteed employment from a submission. In the event a vacancy is identified, the OAIC reserves the right to contact you to discuss the vacancy further.

- Legal interpretation and analysis / drafting guidance
- Policy, research, brief writing
- Accounting & Finance
- Data analytics
- Enquiries / call centre
- Assessments / audits / stakeholder engagement
- Media and communication
- Freedom of Information
- Enabling services (information technology, people and culture, office management, finance, executive assistance, governance, security)
Positions available through this register vary in duration, but you can be engaged temporarily for periods up to 12 months (with possibility of extension) or transferred permanently.
Assessing merit
Decisions to engage applicants for employment within the Australian Public Service (APS) are based on merit. Applicants for OAIC vacancies will be assessed against the requirements of the role. Various combinations of methods may be used to assess merit as well as to gather information about the suitability of an applicant. These may include, but are not limited to:
- requesting a CV and/or a written application
- addressing specific requirements of the job, or making a ‘pitch’– either written or by video
- conducting interviews face-to-face or via virtual online platforms such as MS Teams
- written or verbal testing, including psychological or aptitude testing
- seeking examples of past work
- contacting referees.
